Help to strengthen our Organisation and drive change for a better life of the young people of Middlesbrough
Role Summary
Linx Youth Project, ‘Linx’, is a third sector youth work organisation.
We are seeking a new Chief Executive Officer to work with the Board of Management (BoM). We aim for a diverse and inclusive organisation that reflects the people we serve, and we encourage and welcome applications from candidates from all backgrounds and perspectives.
This is a paid part-time role based in Middlesbrough with potential for flexible and hybrid working.
You will need to be values driven, with a passion for the support and development of the children, young people and local community served by the organisation.
Experienced at senior level within an organisation, you will have strategic ability and be highly motivated. Leading our team of employees and volunteers, you will promote our values and progress our strategic objectives.
To apply for this role:
please submit your expression of interest and CV by email (using REF CEO 22 in the header) to Lynne@petandr.co.uk by 12 noon on 04.07.22 telling us:
• Why have you applied for the role of Chief Executive Officer and what are your interests in this role?
• How your skills, experience, and aptitude match with the requirements outlined in the job description and person specification.
We will acknowledge receipt and send further information by return. If you can’t help, please pass this on to someone who you think may.
Member of the Board of Management (Voluntary Role)
If you share our passion about providing services for young people and have a genuine interest in improving the life of our communities, please get in touch. If you have experience in finance, running a business, managing people, HR, the law or contract management that would be a great help to us.
We need you to help us keep our strategic promises and meet the needs of young people facing multiple challenges brought on by poverty and disadvantage:
• Make sure all our decisions fit our values and make sure the money is spent wisely.
• Act as a critical friend to senior staff and challenge our approach in a measured and open way.
The role of a board member is voluntary, paying out of pocket expenses however, the organisation does require a level of commitment for the role.
We meet 4-6 times a year, with sub-group meetings to suit your interests. Meetings are currently held remotely, but this will be reviewed later this year. Much of our work is done in the evenings so if you are working that needn’t be a problem (but you may need to check with your HR department to see if your company is positive or has rules about voluntary work).
Induction and ongoing training will be provided; and if you want, we can assign a mentor from the existing board to help you get started.
